Day #4 Swimming With The Sharks (The Winter Learning Journey Activity)

For this Winter learning Journey  activity I will pretend that by the end of day #3, I will have seen a lot of the north island of  New Zealand. I have enjoyed it and I am excited for the next phase of my journey-the ferry trip across the Cook Strait from the bottom of the north island to the top of the south island. I will be spending the next 2 days exploring the south island before I head back up to Auckland, via Wellington (the capital of New Zealand).

Why We Have To Ban Fishermen From Fishing At Farewell Spit;

Over these past few months  fishermen have caught dolphins in  humungous nets while fishing in the Farewell spit oceans. I think that we should ban fishermen from fishing at Farewell spit because of what has happened to dolphins and other types of fishes.

  1. Hello Viva, I agree with you. Hector's Dolphins can become extinct if fishermen continue to kill them. Fishermen can go and fish somewhere else where they are not harming the Hector's Dolphins. Keep up the great work Viva. I can't wait to see some more activities.

  3. Kia ora Viva,

    It is great to see that you tackled this difficult topic and shared your opinions with us on your blog. I agree with you that something needs to be done as we are losing far too many dolphins every year. If the numbers continue to drop we will reach a point where the dolphins risk extinction. That would be pretty terrible, wouldn't it?

    It's great to see that you're already blogging a lot this term. Keep up the great work!

    Cheers,
    Rachel
