Let Me Tell You Something About The Winter Olympics...

Let me tell you about the winter Olympics that was held in south Korea - Pyongchang. This event started on the 9th of February and ended on the 25th. There were 92 countries competing to win the gold, silver and bronze medals.
The sports that was played was Figure skating, Ice hockey, the Biathlon, the luge, snowboarding, Skiing, freestyle skiing, curling, Alpine skiing, short track speed skating and ski jumping.

What we did to write about the winter Olympics was Joel and I were given 5 minutes to talk about the words that we thought that we should add in to describe what sport was played and when this event happened. Joel and I looked carefully at it to see if the piece of writing made sense to both of us.

Show Me Don't Tell Me...

I heard splashing and birds singing in the trees.

I heard the sound of the tree leaves falling of twigs.

I felt excited about how fun it would be swimming in the salty ocean.

I saw palm trees swaying side to side.

I felt like I was going to explode because of how hot it was.

I wondered if I would get the chance to swim for a very long time.

I wondered if I would get my ice cream in time.

Today for writing we were given an activity that is similar to the game 'Rittles'. The purpose of this activity is to show don't tell. You have to give clues to where you are like for example a theme park (rainbows end), pools and the beach. Guess where I am... To know where I am read the clues and find out...

The Diffrence Between 'A' And 'An'

Today we were learning when to use 'A' and when to use 'An' before a word. If a word begins with a vowel which is A-E-I-O-U or silent 'H' (Eg; Hour or Honor), we use 'an'. We use  the letter 'A' for all other words except for the letters in the vowels. The photo shows the sentences we wrote to practice using the letter 'A' and the word 'An'.

My brother means everything to me!. He’s rough sometimes but when it come to someone hurting or bullying him oh gosh! Aren't they going to be in big trouble. He’s my hobbie.
37 words in 2 mins
I guess my brother is everything to me just like my cousins and family. My brother is my best friend he’s funny and also my family. He is the best brother in this whole wide world. My brother always tries his hardest to make me laugh.
46 words in 1 mins.
My brother is cool and funny just like my friends at school. He’s lazy sometimes too but at least he helps me and my mother clean the house.
28 words in 2 mins.

Our challenge today was to write my ideas clearly so that it made sense. We had only 4 minutes to do this in, and 1 minute to check our writing. Our task was called '2 words...1 minute'. We had to chose one of the words then power write for 1 minute, count our words, carry on for 2 more minutes, count our words; then finish with 1 more minute. It was fun and I enjoyed it very much!...
